New Spread: Three Sentence Story

Every art and craft has a speedy variant, where form is admired, but speed is king. Many have a tiny variant where form and time matter less than time.

In writing, there are challenges like NaNoWiMo (write a complete novel of at least 50000 words in November) for speed, and six word stories for size.

This deal will be all about size. The challenge is to write a coherent three sentence story, launched from four cards in two pairs. The first pair informs the first sentence. The second pair, the second sentence. You get the third sentence to tie the themes together and make it all make sense.

The sentences may be scaled anywhere from Hemingway to Bulwer-Lytton and on up to Proust, but above all, despite the temptation to run together too many ideas, they must somehow make sense.

The three sentences may appear in any order, but there may be only three sentences.

Deal four cards. Write three sentences. Make it make sense.
